Kitchen with living room and fireplace

Dear All,

I'd like to ask for some help in our kitchen planning process. We are building our house in Budapest, Hungary. I'm sorry about writing in English, but my German is very basic.

I have attached a floorplan and some pictures about our kitchen + dining room + living room area. (The wall between the kitchen and the living room will not be built.) The kitchen will be in corner ... I have planned the kitchen roughly, the power outlets and water connections are already fixed. The sink should go under the window, the dishwasher next to it (left or right side, it does not matter for us). I also have made an IKEA version, because that is more close to our budget.

There are 2 options for the place of the hob.

Our first idea is to put the hob to the center of the kitchen island. As we don't want to have any ceiling mounted filter, the hob should have a downdraft filter, like this one: https://www.ikea.com/de/de/p/foerdelaktig-induktionskochfeld-mit-dunstabzug-ikea -700-black-50449403 /

The second idea is to put the hob close in between the corner and the sink. In this case we would need a filter built into the cabinet. This version would be much cheaper, easier to clean etc. Most of the food preparation would be done between the hob and the sink, but it's tricky how to make this area wide enough.

We will have a central HRV ventilation system, therefore we should have circulating air hood.

The fridge would be a side-by-side fridge (fridge and freezer combo), with an ice-maker feature. These are usually 91cm wide. I was thinking about a narrower fridge to have more workspace, however, the ice-maker would not be an option anymore.

Dimensions of the kitchen:
  • 336 cm from corner to corner
  • 180.5 cm from corner to window
  • 194.5 cm wide, 100 cm high window, bottom of the window is at 120 cm
  • height of the room is around 290 cm
How do you like this plan? Maybe I'm totally wrong with this island. We will have a fireplace on the opposite side (the chimney is fixed), which is somehow in the middle .. but it's will be kind of hard to sit by the fireplace as it is on the hallway.

As the room height is 290 cm, I'm wondering about floor-to-ceiling cabinets. What do you think?

What would be the price of this kitchen in Germany? Would you recommend any manufacturer which is close to IKEA price and delivers to Hungary?

Hi there and welcome,

if you draw with the ALNO planer, you have to download a picture of the floorplan that we we can't see what cabinets you have fitted and the distances between the rows of cabinets and island.

We also need quite accurately the position of the water, power points would help too. If you could measure to the centre of the drain pipe would be good enough.

There are several wall lengths missing.

I believe there is a powerpoint for a rangehood left of the window and another one at the wall of the entrance hall?

The fridge in this position is always a bit less comfortable because the fridge door opens in the wrong direction. However, I don't see any alternative location.

There is little space between the cooker and the sink, which usually is the main prep area.

And pls, DON'T turn you plans and keep all in the same direction as the floor plan in post #1

Hello!
Here is an updated floor plan with the positions of the power sockets and water / drain.
I have created a screenshot from ALNO planner, is this enough or can I export it to image somehow?
Thx

why are those pics in #5 upside down? pls stick to one direction.

no idea, why not IKEA?

the workspace between cooker and sink is very little in your layout. At least have the dishwasher on the right of the sink.

You have plenty of space why don't you want to make the window kitchen line a bit longer that you have more space between? You can move the cabinets 10cm away from the wall to move the water and drain at a better location. The benchtop is then 70 or so deep.

If the cooker is installed in the island or not is up to you. We don't know how important it is to you looking into the room when cooking or if you might need a larger work space for baking. No idea.

most of us favour a rubbish bin next to the sink under the main working area.

usually between 30-60cm wide. The second picture is an IKEA cabinet, 40cm wide.
